Steam-powered mechs meet forbidden sorcery! Inspired by Sherlock Holmes, Dracula, Jekyll & Hyde, and Jack the Ripper, "A Study in Steampunk: Choice by Gaslight" is an epic 277,000-word interactive mystery novel by Heather Albano, co-author of "Choice of Broadsides," "Choice of Zombies," and "Choice of Romance: Affairs of the Court." Your choices control the story. Its entirely text-based--without graphics or sound effects--and fueled by the vast, unstoppable power of your imagination.

The game is afoot! In a world of gaslit streets, mysteriously long-lived foreign nobles, and master criminals, will you defend your Empire from spies or overthrow it from within? Advocate science and reason or learn forbidden magic? Romance men, women, both, or neither? End as a healer, a freedom fighter, a vigilante, or a traitor?

The fate of the Empire is in your hands!

Pros and cons of A Study in Steampunk app for iPhone and iPad

A Study in Steampunk app good for

Would buy again, branches out nicely and has a top Sherlock Holmes Style
This is probably my new favorite, multiple choice, text-based, game ever! I want more! If possible, maybe a sequel? Please? The story was full of action and thrill, the relationships needed to be handled carefully and I really felt for some of the characters. I strongly recommend this game. Its amazing!
Very well-written with memorable characters. Im playing through for the second time now and the choices you make have a huge impact on the story. Does an amazing job of world-building; I hope they make a sequel!
Ok, I have read more than my share of interactive storytelling, but this one is the very best you can get. Meaningful choices, great characters and a very deep well written story. Buy it now and thank me later !
Love love love it Easily one of the longest and best written choice of" games made, must buy
This is the only choice of games to have made me feel so many emotions. The writing, plot, character interactions, and character development are all particularly superb. You really feel like a person instead of a mere amalgamation of skills. You know that feeling after finishing a really good tv show? Thats what Im feeling right now. If only there was a female character option so that I could feel even more part of the story.

Some bad moments

I cannot overstate how awesome this game is. There is great variability with multiple branching storylines and compelling characters. The game is also MUCH longer than I thought it would be. Seriously loved it
I have formed a habit of playing CoG stories out of boredom, only enjoying the games as new ones, or sequels, come out. I never expected this story to truly take my breath away. Fret with politics, theological debates, and raw emotion, Study in Steampunk has utterly and completely enthralled me in which I can only offer my heartfelt thanks to the author for this wonderful piece of literature.
What I read of it seemed well written with plenty of choice. Would have liked to have known that the main character is male before purchasing, and am a tad peeved that this isnt mentioned in the description. Im sad to say I wont finish the story as it is. Hopefully others will enjoy it.
This game is great, very well written and a great story with a huge replay value. Very lengthy and I just love The choices, very meaningful choices which change the course of the story. Well done writer.
I really enjoyed this game. Though I think I would of enjoyed it a little more if the main character could be female.
I am a big fan of these games, whether published under hosted games or choice of games, I find myself quite addicted to these little gems. So know that I do not say this lightly, but I think that this is their best one yet^_^ the choices feel natural and because it allows you to change your views of the world throughout a play through, it makes the characters seem more alive, and allows them to grow. Its a fairly long game, Id say probably twice as long( maybe more) as the deathless series, but it doesnt at all feel padded, it just elicits excitement when you see that you can keep going!^_^ I would highly recommend this game to just about anyone!
